February 8, 2016
Dear Colleague,
After careful consideration and in consultation with chapter leaders from all 23 campuses, the CFA Board of Directors on Friday, Feb. 5, passed a resolution authorizing a strike on all 23 campuses on April 13-15 and April 18-19, 2016. The five-day strike will be held if we reach the end of the statutory process without an agreement.
Going on strike means faculty will NOT teach, hold alternative classes, or in any way perform duties for or on behalf of the CSU those days. Please join with your colleagues on the picket lines held on all campuses during the strike.
Our solidarity will send CSU Chancellor Tim White the message that we in the faculty are serious about our Fight for Five. Chancellor White and CSU management have repeatedly rejected our proposal of a 5% General Salary Increase (GSI) for all faculty and a 2.65% Service Salary Increase (SSI) for those eligible. Our offer is fair and reasonable. This fight is about sustaining our families, protecting our profession, and providing high quality education for our students.
We understand that you may have questions about the strike and how it would impact you and your students. Please click here to read FAQs that help to address some of the most common questions and concerns. To read more about questions students may have and how to answer them, click here.
Going on strike is our last resort; CSU management has had the ability to settle this salary dispute for almost two years. If we reach the end of the legal process without agreement we must take action.
We don’t want to strike. But we will.
In Solidarity,
The CFA Board of Directors
